TVL is a boutique practice built around deep expertise rather than broad capacity. That means opportunities are infrequent — but when they arise, they are genuinely interesting. Work spans forensic crash investigation, road safety engineering, vehicle technology assessment, and expert witness support, often within a single engagement.

TVL does not carry a roster of unfilled positions. If you are a practitioner with relevant experience across road, vehicle, or driver domains — or a recent graduate with a strong foundation in traffic or mechanical engineering and a genuine interest in road safety — an expression of interest is welcome. TVL also engages specialist associates and subcontractors for specific projects, and maintains a small network of practitioners it calls on when a matter requires additional capacity or a complementary perspective.

What TVL Looks For

Relevant backgrounds include traffic and transport engineering, mechanical and automotive engineering, road safety auditing, forensic investigation, human factors, and law. What matters more than any specific background is the ability to think across domain boundaries — to understand how the road, the vehicle, and the driver interact, and to communicate that understanding clearly to a non-specialist audience.

Familiarity with Victorian road rules, Austroads guidelines, and the Safe System Approach is useful. Experience with ADAS, EDR analysis, or crash reconstruction is particularly relevant to TVL’s current practice direction. An interest in emerging vehicle technology is essentially a prerequisite.
